In partnership with the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (“USHCC”) and USAA, we will implement a sustainable model of the Avanzar Program within the San Antonio market to serve eligible San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (“SAHCC”) members.
Program Summary:
Each selected Hispanic entrepreneur will participate in courses that are aimed to help develop business plan, strategy, and the leadership skills needed to scale their small businesses. Course topics include:
- Building financial plans
- Streamlining operations
- Lowering expenses
- Marketing & leveraging social media
- Human resources
- Obtaining access to capital for each business.
- The USHCC serves as an advising partner and facilitator, creating the program marketing materials and providing
- introductions to potential speakers as well as networking opportunities. The SAHCC will implement the program
- within the San Antonio Market and provide grant-required metrics and outcomes.
The application for Avanzar’s first cohort was launched in January 2019, in partnership with the Albuquerque Hispano Chamber of Commerce in New Mexico and the Latin American Chamber of Commerce of Charlotte in North Carolina. Both chambers selected 10 program participants for the year long program, evaluating the current state of their business and charting their progress throughout the program. The USHCC serves as an advising partner and facilitator, creating the program marketing materials and providing introductions to potential speakers as well as networking opportunities.
Participant Criteria
- Local Hispanic small businesses with annual revenue between $750k to $3M
- Minimum years of operation: 3 years.
- Capability to scale up into an enterprise that is bankable in the long term.
- Active membership with the local Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and in good standing.
Program Requirements
- Minimum duration per class session: Up to 4 hours.
- Number of sessions: 4 (1 per month, consecutively, starting January 2026)
