SAHCC Applauds the Passing SB 678, a Bill that will Create a State Small Business Disaster Recovery Loan Program

San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (SAHCC) applauds the Texas Senate for passing SB 678, a bill that will create a state small business disaster recovery loan program.

April 30, 2021 - In the wake of Covid-19, many food and beverage restaurants had to quickly find creative ways to change their business model to survive during the pandemic. Others were more permanently affected by the decline in revenue and were forced to close their doors for good.

This is why our Chamber has been advocating in support for bills like SB 678 during the 2021 Texas Legislature. One of SAHCC’s top 15 legislative priorities for this session is to “provide economic relief to small businesses that have been adversely impacted by COVID-19.”

The passing of SB 678 will in turn create a state small business recovery loan program for struggling business owners.

“Creating a small business disaster recovery loan program will provide small businesses with another financial assistance program to help them recover from a disaster. Supporting small businesses is key to our economic recovery.”

Martin Gutierrez

SAHCC Director of Public Policy & Business Advocacy

SB 678 was championed by Senator Alvarado and will now go to the Texas House. The San Antonio Hispanic Chamber will continue to inform Representatives of our support for this bill.
