SAN ANTONIO (February 03, 2022) – Today, the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce is elated to announce that the San Antonio City Council approved the final spending framework for the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds, which included a $31 million dollar allocation for small businesses.

The Hispanic Chamber’s top local priority has been advocating for the San Antonio City Council to use ARPA funding for small business relief from the ongoing effects of the pandemic. Over the last few months, we have been sending letters, testifying, sending out Call to Actions and meeting with council members and their staff to ensure our voice is heard.

We applaud the Mayor and City Council for their commitment to supporting small businesses through these difficult times. We will continue to work with city staff and Councilman Pelaez, Chairman of the Economic and Workforce Development Committee, to ensure the funding methodology to distribute funds prioritizes the hardest hit small businesses and the application process is not overly restrictive.
