November 5, 2021 (SAN ANTONIO, TX) – The San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce the 2022 Co-Chair selections for Latina Leadership Institute Class 7: Melanie Mendez-Gonzales, Digital Media Entrepreneur and Community Leader, and Claudia L. Guzman, Ph.D, the Corp. Qualitative Research Manager & Moderator for H-E-B. The announcement was made last week during the LLI Class 6 graduation ceremony.
“On my behalf of our SAHCC leadership committee and board of directors I want to congratulate Dr. Guzman and Melanie for being selected as Class 7 co-chairs for the Latina Leadership Institute program said Michelle Martinez, SAHCC leadership chair. “We look forward to their leadership and supporting their journey as they take LLI into its seventh year of inspiring and propelling women to pursue their passions in civic engagement.”
Both San Antonio natives and both having served on the Steering Committee this past year for LLI Class 6, both Melanie and Claudia bring a wealth of experience and leadership. Melanie is an award-winning blogger through her platform “Qué Means What” leading the conversation on education, entertainment, culture, and family, and Claudia manages customer insight and success in her current position with experience in research administration at UTSA and overseeing international women’s development projects at the Women’s Global Connection.
The Latina Leadership Institute is dedicated to building the skills, knowledge and confidence that today’s Latina Leaders need to succeed and is honored to be led by these influential leaders who have excelled as past class participants and as leaders in our community. We look forward to seeing all they accomplish and to another year of LLI!
About the Hispanic Leadership Development Foundation:
The mission of the Hispanic Leadership Development Foundation 501(c)3 is to remove barriers of past discrimination in the San Antonio workforce and fill a void in the San Antonio community by providing a number of accessible and affordable activities, which are designed to target small, minority and women owned businesses and minority youth, who require education and support to become leaders in the San Antonio community. The Foundation also educates participants on policy issues affecting the civic and economic well-being of the community and create a larger pool of knowledgeable, skilled and active leaders.
Structure of the 501(c)3 organization: The Hispanic Leadership Development Foundation is structured under the
San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. All leadership and educational programs are run through the foundation.
